USDA Invests $86 Million to Improve Equitable Access to Jobs, Business Opportunities, Education, Health Care and Housing for Rural People

    November 28, 2021 /

U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Secretary Tom Vilsack today announced the Department is investing $86 million to improve equitable access (PDF, 238 KB) to jobs, business opportunities, education, housing and health care for people who live and work in rural areas. The investments are part of the Biden-Harris Administration’s commitment to ensure that people living in rural communities have equitable access to the infrastructure and opportunities often taken for granted by people living in urban and suburban areas. “Regardless of where they live, their race, ethnicity or gender, or the size of the town in which they live, all people must have access to decent housing, clean water and good job opportunities,”…

Why Is A Marketing And Business Plan Necessary For Your Horizon Europe Project?

    November 28, 2021 /

A researcher has to overcome the hurdle of successfully acquiring funding for a Horizon Europe research project. After overcoming the hurdle, the next step is to officially execute your research, thus realizing its potential for impact and change. Although you’ll spend most of your time on research management and execution, there are other important aspects to keep in mind. Without a strategic, solid, and professional marketing and business plan, even the most innovative research with a groundbreaking approach and potential to substantially impact the world will fall short. The Importance of a Business Plan A business plan is a financial tool for assessing a project’s viability in business terms. In…

Column: How start-up challenges spark entrepreneurship | Columnists

    November 27, 2021 /

Earlier this month, IMPACT Sheridan hosted the fifth annual Sheridan Start-Up Challenge. This year’s event was a great success, and dare I say, our judge panel had the longest deliberation session and the toughest decisions to make since I arrived in Sheridan in 2018. That is a testament to some high-quality presentations made by the five finalists. IMPACT 307, with a U.S. EDA CARES Act grant, is expanding the number of start-up competitions across the state. Our Assistant Director Skye Heeren will be leading the effort to initiate a Gillette Start-Up Challenge in the spring of 2022 and a Park County Start-Up Challenge in the fall of 2022. Other new…

‘It’s our biggest day of the year:’ Locally-owned businesses hope for higher turnout for Black Friday and Small Business Saturday 2021

    November 27, 2021 /

Last year, many businesses either had limited sales or did not participate at all due to COVID-19 restrictions. Business owners hope 2021 will be the beginning of a return to normalcy for the holiday season. Black Friday – the Friday after Thanksgiving – has grown in recent years to nearly become a holiday by itself, especially as stores offer bigger and better deals, sometimes spanning late Thursday evening and throughout the day on Friday. Small Business Saturday, this year on Nov. 27, hasn’t yet reached Black Friday status but it’s no less important, according to Alan Haut, North Dakota District director for the U.S. Small Business Administration. In a letter…
