Wisconsin small business grant program announced in Milwaukee

Wisconsin small business grant program announced in Milwaukee

Gov. Tony Evers on Tuesday declared $75 million in federal coronavirus reduction cash to support diverse businesses afflicted by the pandemic.

Two grant packages, each obtaining $37.5 million, will go towards chambers of commerce and neighborhood improvement money establishments, or CDFIs, specifically all those in ethnically varied communities.

The objective is to offer a raise to smaller companies in communities of color that have been disproportionately impacted by the pandemic and to elevate up the bordering neighborhoods.

“Owning robust businesses will enable to solve a ton of the local community ills,” said Marjorie Rucker, chair of the Ethnic and Varied Small business Coalition in Wisconsin.

Evers built the announcement at a news conference outside the Dominican Centre, a nonprofit in Milwaukee’s Amani neighborhood, surrounded by leaders of many chambers of commerce and other company corporations that serve persons of color.
