WASHINGTON (AP) — The federal company that investigates chemical incidents is hindered by a lack of staffing, management disputes and a backlog of investigations that threaten its capability to defend individuals and the environment, in accordance to a new report by a federal watchdog. The report by the Environmental Security Agency’s inspector common claims the U.S. Chemical Safety Board is “challenged by vacancies in mission-crucial positions and an inability to fully use the means Congress allocated” to it.
