Shopify Says Its Merchants Have Created Nearly 5 Million Jobs
Canadian-based global eCommerce company Shopify says its merchants contributed 5 million jobs and $444 billion in global economic activity in 2021. That’s an increase of 45{3e92bdb61ecc35f2999ee2a63f1e687c788772421b16b0136989bbb6b4e89b73} from 2020. Shopify merchants sold $25 billion worth of goods and services outside of their home countries. Small businesses accounted for $11 billion of the $25 billion. In the study, a small business was defined as earning less than $2.5 million in gross revenues.
